Every project starts with the intake form. It covers the offer, the target customer, the key messages you need people to walk away with, the tone you are going for, and any examples of copy you think is doing the job well -- whether yours or a competitor's. For larger packages, we follow up with a 30-minute brief call if the intake raises open questions.
The brief is the most important part of the project. A weak brief produces a weak first draft. We will ask follow-up questions before starting if anything is ambiguous -- it is faster than a bad first draft.
Before writing, we look at what your competitors are saying. We look at how your customers describe their problem -- in reviews, forums, and any research you have shared. We identify what is already being said in your market so we can avoid repeating the same angles and find the specific language that your buyer actually uses.
This research does not show up explicitly in the copy, but it shapes every word. Copy that uses the customer's own language to describe their problem reads differently from copy written in the brand's language. The difference is felt before it is understood.
The first draft is delivered to the shared document by the date confirmed at intake. One writer owns the project from start to finish -- not a team handing off sections. The voice stays consistent because one person is responsible for it.
We do not send drafts by email. They go into the shared working document so you can see the full context and leave comments in place. The draft is not a finished product -- it is the starting point for the revision process.
You leave comments in the document. We address every single one. If a comment is not clear enough to act on, we ask a specific question rather than guessing. Revision rounds are not about making wholesale changes -- they are about addressing specific feedback against the original brief.
If the first draft misses the brief on a key point, we address that first. If feedback asks for changes that contradict the brief, we flag the conflict and get alignment before making the change. The goal is copy that works, not copy that got the most rounds of edits.
Final copy is delivered in clean format, ready to publish or hand off to a designer or developer. Standard delivery is a Google Doc. If you need a different format -- Word, Notion, Figma text, plain text file -- just specify in the brief and we accommodate it at no extra charge.
After delivery, revision rounds included in the package remain open for 14 days (Essentials, Momentum) or 90 days (Signature). Any revision request after delivery within the window is handled the same way as revision rounds during the project.
